sunny and windy.

Week 41

120 days after waving goodbye to Marcel and April as they hopped on to their bicycles at mile zero in Victoria and headed east, found David and I standing in the Victoria Airport welcoming them home. Tidy cardboard bike boxes at their sides and bubbling over with the tales of the adventures of biking across Canada on winding trails, hilly bike paths and country roads navigating 7100+ km from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. What an outstanding accomplishment, congratulations! Through the Victoria Art Gallery I have 6 white relief paintings from the EMOTIONALLY DRIVEN series hanging in the airport, how appropriate to have a photo of Marcel and April in front of the work.

Gray and blue sky, all mixed up with wind and rain.

Week 40

You never know what type of magic is around the corner. As the wind  pushed and pushed and then ripped apart the clouds to make room for the blue sky, in a small pool a reflection from the underworld appeared, ah the eye of the Dragone I thought. Kramer and I quietly skirted around the opening and never looked back.

Rain,rain and more rain!

Week 39

Well, the magical fourteen weeks of blue sky and sun shine has been broken. A few days into the rain and already the novelty of snapping open the umbrella and jumping over puddles is wearing thin. Other than two very happy black labs cavorting about in the puddles with their gum booted owners standing to the side, Kramer and I had the park to ourselves. I am sure I heard the ground sigh, as the cracked peat moss surface started to absorb the rain water.

Never ending blue sky & warm.

week 38

We are in Vancouver for the Thanksgiving weekend. The City is a fantastic patchwork pattern of people filled sidewalks, startling glimpses of pacific ocean blue water in the  freighter filled harbour, chunks of dusty gray new construction, slices of forest green mountain views, then dotted with restaurants who’s tables of laughing customers are spilling out onto  Granville Street. The posh shop windows are overflowing with fur collar down jackets, pink and yellow striped wooly scarves, knee high suede boots and  black leather gloves all looking  out of place, as  every one walking by is decked out in cutoffs, short sleeved shirts and flip flops.Vancouver has its best sunny day outfit on for the holiday. It is rumoured that our fourteen week stretch of no rain, only blue sky and sunshine will end soon……

Sunny and warm and never ending blue sky.

week 37

I am not sure why they are saving this scrappy piece of an old brick building downtown, but it makes for interesting pictures and I can’t help but think of a theatre set, with windows to nowhere and stairs up into the sky.
